Week 93 and Week 6.5 - Video catch up

This post may be a bit disjointed.  Apologies in advance.

Chinese New Year came and went with little hoopla.  Matt was home for 3 consecutive days which was awesome.

Sophia pooped on her own today (hallelujah!)!  Her first time since day 1 on her own.  Wow this made my day (and my year!).  I have been drinking a lot more water and maybe got some water in her breastmilk bottle yesterday.  Hope it happens again soon!

Nursing seems to be going better these days.  Less frequent sessions (though still running an hour) - I am nursing ten times a day instead of 12.

Sophia is smiling more!  She has a brilliant smile....

Charlotte is counting to ten (though skipping six) and says the alphabet mostly unassisted.  She also ends the alphabet with an enthusiastic 8! 9! 10!  She is well into an unfun hitting phase... hope this passes soon.

It is difficult to upload videos in a timely manner these days...

But first - the photos...

Week 92 and Week 5.5 - New Moon

We held a one month (new moon) coming out party for Sophia - it was great fun on a rather warm Saturday.  We took pictures before and Sophia was less than cooperative.  However, during the party she was quite chill - just looking around and taking it all in from her vista of her swing in the corner.

It has been a rather busy day today of feeding - she didn't nap so well so this post will be briefish.  I forgot to mention that we took her to the doctor last week for a wellness check - she is 3.87 kg (about half a kg more than when she was born) - which is sufficient but not spectacular weight gain.  We measured her (the doctor didn't for some reason) and she is 3 cm taller.  She could be on the tall on skinny (Drake) side, whereas Charlotte is seeming to have a more solid Kye frame.

Charlotte is saying the ABC's (and knows FGHIJKLMOP without prompting) and counts to ten on her own.  I tried to take a video of the latter but Charlotte was too interested in the video camera.

I have a new camera - first uploads this week - Nikon's D7000 - so nice in lowlight...

Week 91 and Week 4.5 - Sophia's one month old!

Sophia is now one month old (as of today or so).  My confinement nanny (sweet wonderful Jessie) left on Monday, and I had the worst nursing day ever on Tuesday (mere coincidence?), but things improved yesterday.  It is a Poisson process - this breastfeeding.  Every day is different.

I was under the impression that my breast was a panacea for all things unwell about baby - well I have since rediscovered the swing and Imee's sweet patience for little babies to help me along.

I give Sophia tummy time when I remember.  She is strong - she just lifted her head two days ago and can move it from right to left.  She seems to be able to take it longer than Charlotte did (as Char hated tummy time).

Charlotte continues to talk - she can rant on about things we don't understand but you can have a conversation with her if you (the adult) initiates.  I was flipping through a book today looking for a bird (at her request) and she says 'There is a bird!"  I was duly impressed as just a few months ago she would have just said "bird" and somehow figured out an entire comprehensible sentence!  I am trying to teach her that one is a foot and two is feet, but she says "a feet", which is so darn cute it is hard for me to even correct her.

I am starting to play with Lightroom as a photo management software.  Any tips from anyone are greatly appreciated...

Week 90 and Week 3.5 - New Year and Growth Spurt

We have had 2 rather anticlimactic new years so are inadvertently not teaching Charlotte about the revelry and excitement of the new year.  Last year we were flying to Singapore (via Hong Kong) over the new year and this year it was just another nursing day.  I think Matt was watching The Wire and I was nursing upstairs when the New Year rang.

Speaking of nursing - Sophia is in a growth spurt and is eating constantly during the day.  She seems to have figured out the night time and is not so demanding feedwise so it has been a bit more manageable with 6 hours of sleep (or so) in a 24 hour period.  Bliss!  I am just coming off of a feeding festival - finally asleep at 3:15 PM after nursing most of the time since 8AM (there were some 15 minute naps there but nothing substantial).

Sophia's still not pooing but had a bit of some yesterday morning!  She has a rather efficient digestive system from what we can tell.  As of last week (Thursday) she weighed 3.62 kg.  Back to the doctor tomorrow...

Charlotte is in a learning mode these days.  She can say (repeat) the alphabet and her numbers to ten.  She says 'doodle do' when she sees a chicken.  She says pee when she wants to pee (or roughly ten minutes before she actually does).  She still thinks all the colors are blue though...

Charlotte got a cool tent from her Grandpa Drake that we set up in the house.  She calls it a house...

I realize it is hard to video a newborn especially when 95% of the time she is either eating (not a compelling video) or sleeping.  Here is her in between:
